The RTR Conference

Showcasing European research results shaping the future of road transport

About the RTR Conference

The RTR Conference, which stands for Results from Road Transport Research, is an annual European event that highlights the outcomes, achievements, and impacts of EU-funded road transport research.

Since its start in 2017, the conference has become a key meeting point for the European road transport research and innovation community. Every year, it brings together research projects, industry leaders, public authorities, associations, policymakers, and other stakeholders to share the latest results from Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, and other European funding programmes.

The conference offers a look at how European research is helping to make road transport safer, cleaner, more connected, automated, efficient, and competitive.

A platform for EU-funded research project results

Funded projects are invited to present their results when they have reached their mid-term or end-term.

The RTR Conference highlights the accomplishments of EU-funded research projects and how their results can guide the future of European road transport research and innovation.

Across the duration of the conference, participating projects share concrete outcomes, lessons learned and expected impacts in key areas such as:

Zero-emission and green vehicles

Intelligent Transport Systems

Batteries

Road Safety

Urban mobility and public transport

Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility

Logistics and freight transport

Digitalisation, infrastructure and system integration

By bringing these projects together, the RTR Conference provides a clear view of how European research supports the advancement of policy, industry, and social goals.

Connecting research and deployment

The RTR Conference connects research results with future actions in European mobility. By sharing the outcomes of EU-funded projects, it helps spread knowledge, spot common challenges, encourage collaboration, and highlight future research needs. The conference also aims to support the ongoing development of Europe’s road transport research agenda.

Organised by leading European road transport stakeholders

The RTR Conference is organised by the 2Zero Partnership, ERTRAC, the CCAM Partnership, and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation.

A growing European research community

RTR-2026-Day-2

Over the years, the RTR Conference has grown in both size and importance. The latest event brought together more than 700 online and onsite participants, over 100 speakers, and around 90 EU-funded projects presented in several parallel sessions.

The conference remains a unique way to access the results of European road transport research and a valuable forum for anyone interested in how research and innovation are shaping the future of mobility in Europe.
